Novas palavrinhas e auto críticas

Ontem no instagram mostrei bastante sobre minhas pinturas que estão em processo e falei sobre algumas palavras comumente usadas para falar sobre pintura tradicional.

Glazing - velatura

Scumbling - esbatimento / sfregazzo

Taboret - taborete

Well paint palette - godê de pintura

Plinth - plinto / pedestal

Alguém já tinha ouvido falar dessa palavra PLINTO antes? Eu descobri ser comum no vocab de arquitetura e ginástica olímpica, mas sinceramente… Às vezes em english é uma palavra comum, mas quando vai traduzir pra PT não é tanto assim.

Vamos ver a explicação da diferença entre scumbling e glazing.

Eu tô super feliz com o meu comeback na pintura e muito empolgada pra estudar bastante, a prática fez muita falta na minha vida nesses anos que trabalhei como designer. Flower studies on oil and watercolor

This oil painting is half-way through. I had the reference from pinterest but decided to go for a different background. I’m gonna lay over a darker brown to the background to get a still-life atmosphere aiming to enhance the warm colors of the petals. I intend to define the leaf a little bit more to achieve better likeness.

The watercolor version has a light yellow washed background and a more defined leaf and stem. I really enjoyed the highlights on the leaf and stem because they are subtle but bright enough to achieve a sense of attention to the painting process. The flower vase has layers of different blues and washed highlights. I wish I could change de ground line to a washed brushstroke. There’s no need for this type of defined ground on this watercolor.

This skull is oil painted. I started it using only green but I had some difficulty on defining the values to work using only green shades. I added yellow and blue pigments to enrich the mass of the skull. I loved it considering there were years since I had painted and it was my first skull ever. Good challenge!

My next steps are this flower on bottom left and the portrait bust that’s taped on the easel. I’m happy about the bust likeness but I have to get a better definition on the plinth and I’m also going for a dark background. I’m happy with the values on this one, it was a great study.
